Council of State (Nigeria) | Functions

The President is the Chairman of the Nigeria Council of State which was first established in 1975. It also has in its membership the Vice President (Vice Chairman), all former Presidents and Heads of State / Government, all former Chief Justices of Nigeria, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House Representatives, state governors and the Attorney General of the Federation.

Federal Judicial Service Commission (Nigeria)

The Federal Judicial Service Commission has been in existence since 1954. The Chairman of the Commission is the Chief Justice of Nigeria. Other members of the commission are the President of the Court of Appeal, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, two senior legal practitioners and two non-lawyers appointed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
