Dropbox may be really useful when it comes to distant collaboration. But if you forget your password or get locked out of your account, sharing documents and folders through the cloud storage app won’t go very far.

Dropbox provides two options to change your password if you still remember it but feel your account’s security has been compromised.

Here’s how, with or without your password on hand, you may modify your Dropbox password via a web browser.

How to change your Dropbox password if you don’t know your password

  • Navigate to the Dropbox login landing page in a web browser.
  • Click the “Forgot your password?” link
  • Enter the email associated with your Dropbox account and hit “Submit.”
  • Open your email.
  • Find the “Reset your Dropbox password” email in your inbox.
  • Click the blue “Reset Password” box.
  • Enter a new password twice before clicking “Submit.”

How to change your Dropbox password if you’re able to login with your current password

  • Login to your account at Dropbox.com.
  • the top right corner of your Dropbox dashboard, click your account icon.
  • Select “Settings.”
  • Click “Security” near the top of the screen.
  • Next to “Password,” click “Change password.”
  • Enter your new password twice.
  • Click “Change password” to confirm.
