PNC Bank Review 2022: Accounts, Fees, Locations

With over 2,300 locations and 9,000 ATMs spread across 19 states, PNC Bank has established itself as one of the nation’s largest banks. These locations stretch from Florida to New York on the East Coast, as well as into the Midwest, including Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan.

PNC Bank is a financial institution that specializes in four areas: banking, lending, investing, and wealth management. Consumers, businesses, and institutions are among its clients. PNC Bank serves a diverse spectrum of customers, including students and military personnel, in terms of banking. Their banking products and services include:

  • Checking accounts
  • Savings accounts
  • Money market accounts
  • Certificates of deposit
  • Individual retirement accounts
  • Credit cards
  • Prepaid debit cards
  • Insurance

Checking Accounts

PNC Bank offers regular checking and savings accounts, as well as the option of becoming a Virtual Wallet customer. Standard Checking, Performance Checking, and Performance Select Checking accounts are available on the traditional checking side.

Standard Checking is a no-frills checking account with minimal features. Performance and Performance Select Checking are interest-bearing accounts with extra features including bonus rewards and ATM fee reimbursement if you hold an eligible PNC Bank credit card.

Savings Accounts

Traditional saving accounts, such as a Standard Savings account, a Premier Money Market account, and CDs, including IRA CDs if you’re saving for retirement, are available to savers. There’s also a savings account built just for children who wish to start saving early.

Virtual Wallet Account

PNC Bank’s Virtual Wallet is a complete money management solution. You get a Growth account for savings when you open a Virtual Wallet account, which has greater relationship rates than the normal savings alternatives.

A Reserve account for short-term savings and a Spend account, which is your checking account, are also available. Any of PNC Bank’s checking account types, including student checking, can be used to open a Virtual Wallet account.

Your Virtual Wallet account comes with a variety of tools to make money management easier. A calendar for scheduling online bill payments, a Money Bar that shows you how much money you have to spend at a glance, a Wish List for creating and tracking financial goals, a budget and spending tracker, and Punch the Pig, which lets you transfer money instantly from your Spend account to your Growth account, are among the tools available online and through the Virtual Wallet app. Zelle is an app that allows you to send money to nearly anyone.
