Set a six-digit passcode for 2-step verification
If you want to keep your WhatsApp account secure, you need to enable two-step verification. You can set a six-digit passcode for 2-step verification. This will be the code that you will use every time you log in or register from a new phone number.
Make sure that when you choose your passcode, you don’t pick a pattern that someone could guess easily. For example, if your last name is Smith, don’t make your password SMITH123. Instead, pick something like SMITHS345 or SMITHS678.
You can also add an extra layer of security by setting up Google Authenticator on your phone. This way, even without the six-digit passcode when logging in, the app will send a code to your phone which you then have to enter before it allows access to WhatsApp on your phone.
Enable Strong Passwords for 2-Step Verification
To enable 2-step verification on WhatsApp, you need to first log in to your account. Then go to the settings menu by tapping on the gear icon at the top right corner of the screen. Under “Account”, tap on “Two-step Verification”.
This will open a prompt that will ask you to enter your phone number and choose a method of authentication. You can either use an SMS message or call from a specified phone number or verify your account via a code generated from an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy.
Once you have done this, you should receive an SMS message with a verification code for your account. Enter this code in the box and follow the prompts to turn on two-step verification for your WhatsApp account.
Other ways to verify your WhatsApp account
You can also verify your account by sending a verification code to your phone number. This can be done through SMS, Watsapp notifications or through the website.
You can even do it with an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy.
It is important to verify your account so that you don’t have any problems in the future.
Benefits of Verifying Your WhatsApp Account
There are numerous benefits of verifying your account. If you are not verifying your account, you are exposing your personal information to hackers. For example, if they know your phone number, they can get into your WhatsApp and take control of it.
Additionally, there is a risk that the hacker will access all of the messages in your WhatsApp account, which contains sensitive information about yourself and others.
When you verify your account, you are limiting the chance that this will happen because only you can log into it. With verification on, only those who know the verification code that you set up can access your account.
Additionally, if someone has hacked into your WhatsApp to send out spam messages to all of the contacts in your phonebook with malicious links or viruses, by having a verified account these messages will be automatically blocked from sending any more messages.
This is an important security feature for those who want to protect themselves from identity thieves and hackers as well as spam messages.
