How to Access an iTunes Account From Another Computer

A software program called iTunes gives you access to the Apple iTunes store and the ability to sync and back up iOS devices. Apple offers numerous options for sharing your iTunes collection or account material with up to five computers on a local network, allowing your coworkers to view your music and podcasts while you are logged in. You can grant access to up to five standalone computers at once to your iTunes account and purchases if you wish to access your account from another computer, such as if you are on the road.

  • Download the iTunes application from the Apple website (link in Resources) and double-click the file to install it to your local computer, if it isn’t already installed.
  • Open iTunes and click “Store.” Select “Authorize This Computer” and enter your Apple ID and password. Click “Authorize” to sync or play a purchased item on your computer.
  • Sign in to the iTunes store and click “Purchased” in the Quick Links section. Select the tab for the type of content you want to download such as music, apps, TV shows, movies, or books.
  • Click on “Songs” to see individual items or “Albums” to view collections. Choose “All” to see all items of the content type; select “Not on This Computer” to display only items not yet present on the current computer. Click the “Download” icon for each item to download it to the computer.
