Hotmail Password Reset

The best free email service offered by Microsoft is Hotmail. Follow the instructions below if you want to change the password on your Hotmail account; they will help you change it.

  1. When you attempt to reset your password, Hotmail will require a secret question that you should know when you created your Hotmail login email for the first time: see the following image.
  2.  My email account was created in 2011 so I added two different email addresses that I own — at various email providers. Therefore, in order to reset my password, Hotmail will send me an email with further instructions on the other emails that I specified when I created my account.

  3. Take a look at the following image “I can’t use any of these options”. If you click on that link, it will ask you for more details and you will have to specify an email address that you can access if you wish to receive an answer. I did not cover this part as most people won’t need it but keep in mind that there are no guarantees that you will be able to recover your email. However, it is worth trying, if you can offer enough details maybe the Hotmail.com (Microsoft) team will be able to help you.

Regarding the second instance, let me explain how it went for me. This popup appeared after I selected “Email me the reset link,” albeit the confirmation message is slightly different. They tell me that an email with a link to reset my password has been sent to my address.

Please take note that the first time I tried these instructions, nothing happened. I made sure the message allowing me to reset my password hadn’t already arrived by checking my Inbox and Spam folder. I waited a short while before starting over. The second attempt was successful because I got two emails with the exact same message instead of just one. Here are the text and image from the email I received on my Yahoo account:
