What to do if someone impersonates you on Facebook or Instagram

Facebook is dedicated to giving each user an authentic experience. You should report any page or profile you believe is impersonating you or another person. You can report a fake profile even if you don’t have a Facebook account.

  1. click On three dots in the top-right of the Page you wish to report.
  2. Select Find support or Report Page.
  3. Select Scams and Fake Pages.
  4. Select the Pretending to be another person tab and click Send.
  5. Enter the name or handle of the public figure or celebrity that this account is impersonating.

You can use this form to report a Facebook Page that is pretending to be a well-known individual.

Report a Facebook profile that’s impersonating a public figure

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Find support or Report profile.
  3. Select Pretending to be someone.
  4. Select Celebrity and choose Send.
  5. Enter the name or handle of the public figure or celebrity that this account is impersonating.

Report an Instagram account that’s impersonating a public figure

  1. Select the three dots in the top-right of the account profile you wish to report.
  2. Select Report.
  3. Select It’s inappropriate.
  4. Select I believe this account violates Instagram’s Community Guidelines.
  5. Select Report account.
  6. Select This profile is pretending to be someone else.
  7. Select A celebrity or a public figure.
  8. Enter the name or handle of the public figure or celebrity that this account is impersonating.
